Mission Statement
The mission of the Office of Student Conduct is to educate the Rutgers University community, uphold its community standards, build student character, and to administer an effective student disciplinary system in keeping with the University’s mission of the personal, educational, and social development of students.
Goals
To deliver a fair and educational student disciplinary system
To promote a positive, safe, and civil campus climate
To foster community standards of civility and teach students about expected and appropriate behavior
To educate the University community on the University Code of Student Conduct and the Policy on Academic Integrity
To treat all students with fairness, consideration, and respect
To support students in developing a sense of personal responsibility and accountability
Critical Functions
Investigate and adjudicate alleged incidents of student misconduct
Manage disciplinary records and report information
Act as a consultant, liaison, and support service to the University community on issues of student conduct
Recruit and provide supervision, training, and professional development for Hearing Board members, Campus Advisors, Student Conduct Officers, Hearing Officers, and Academic Integrity Facilitators
Provide programming on academic integrity to the University community
Advise the Vice President for Student Affairs, Vice President for Undergraduate Education, and Chancellors on matters of student conduct
Create learning opportunities through Hearing Board membership, peer education, and educational sanctions
Provide resource and referral information
